On 19 of March 2025, starting from 6pm onwards, Mary Blue is hoping to welcome like minded artists, writers, poets, musicians, filmmakers, architects, curators, publishers and creative thinkers to get together and talk about what they do creatively.
Mary would like to encourage active discussion about the present day creative arena, in the same informal way that Gertrude Stein hosted Saturday evening salons at her Paris apartment. These drew in the European avant-garde artists (including Picasso and Matisse), whose works hung in her home, as well as the American writers (including Ezra Pound and Ernest Hemingway) and thought leaders she was among. There will be no formal presentations or lectures. Mary hopes people will want to get together and enjoy each other's company and the exchange of ideas in a comfortable setting, without the pressure of an academic forum.
Mary Blue:
"Even though it's not the early 20th Century, and much has changed culturally, I long for meeting people in real life - not just chats on social media. I've met with the team at the Suffield Arms and they've agreed we can use their Upstairs Saloon Bar for Art in Conversation."
"No lecture, no agenda, just bring your creative hearts."
