The original poem is made up of 115 lines. The first part laments the loss of societal norms, of kin, friends and the comforts of home. The second part is based on Anglo-Saxon tribal values, notably loyalty, physical strength, generosity and courage. The exhibition in part presents items that could have been unearthed from an ancient setting - Mark Titchiner's salt glazed pots could have been unearthed from a more recent archaeological excavation . All seem to resonate with modern human experience. Paintings by Jelly Green and Emma Green are evocative landscapes redolent of local heathland and glimpses where light cuts through the dark, watery terrain typical of this part of coastal Suffolk.
