Stole is created from individually placed and rusted nails, echoing nature as it resembles fur. This piece is about materiality, transformation, and the alchemy of materials. The process of making is also fundamental, as the time it takes to make transcends the piece and encourages the viewer to also take time to observe and make connections with the work. It holds the viewer’s gaze, involving and including them within a dialogue. It invites them to question the maker’s intention and how one would feel owning or wearing this garment.

Within art, anything is possible: scale, materiality, and time don’t matter, animals and humans coexist on the same level. The diversity of materials — both found and processed — within the work provides the opportunity and freedom to invent metaphors which run parallel with the subject matter.
