Artist Statement
My stoneware moon jars are a celebration of the natural rhythms that shape our world. Inspired by the tides and the moon's quiet pull on the earth, each jar embodies the serene and powerful connection between land and sea. The soft, rounded forms of the jars echo the shape of the moon, while the surfaces are textured with  bubbles, reminiscent of the shoreline where water meets earth along Norfolks shingle coast.
The moon’s influence on the tides is a force of nature that fascinates me—a constant, gentle pull that shapes the contours of our coastlines. Similarly, in creating these jars, I am drawn to the ebb and flow of the creative process, where the clay moves under my hands, much like the shifting sands beneath the tide.
The bubbles etched into the surfaces of the jars serve as a tactile reminder of those moments at the water’s edge, where the elements converge.  These marks are my way of capturing the fleeting beauty of the shore—both solid and fluid, permanent and ever-changing.
Through these moon jars, I aim to convey a sense of calm and connection, inviting the viewer to pause and reflect on the subtle yet profound forces that shape our world. Each piece is a tribute to the quiet power of nature.
