A lockdown painting relating to the heightened awareness of nature during the golden hour when everything is warmed with the pink of the sunset on a summer's day. Buzzards are prevalent in the area where Claire lives (Wroxham translates to buzzard village) and their gentle circling flight only added to the appreciation of this place. The trees are painted quickly in layers with the light of the sky added last of all.

Building up larger and larger depictions of the sea, aiming for a totally immersive experience in this painting with the momentum of an approaching wave. Painted using the same four colours I have used for five years I built the ever changing surge and movement with expressive brush strokes immediately after swimming in the sea and taking photos with a waterproof camera. The high horizon aims to immerse the viewer and the pinkish sky refers to the dawn swims I often take.
