The disk angle of a plough usually ranges between 42° and 45° – I am mesmerised by ploughing. A mould board or “blade” from a mould board plough is perfectly shaped to cut and turn the earth in one smooth, effortless action. In this work the bog-oak is slicing through the copper but ironically it is usually through the act of ploughing that bog-oaks are discovered, often resulting in a broken plough.
